Game 3 - View from a Goal - Parent Comment

Forget about the midfield!

The action is at the goals. The goals are where the game is won (and lost).  The midfield is just a whole lot of ants scurrying around,  transporting the ball from the backs to the forwards - the powerhouses of the team.

In the forwards,  "Fev"  White was demanding the ball in long leading runs up the centre,  ably supported by forward flankers/goalsneaks BJ Matera  and Libber Powell in crumbing role.    Needless to say the midfield only occasionally honoured the long searching runs by Fev,  preferring to do the team thing and chip around waiting for the correct space.  But when it did come into the forward line,  the forwards capitalised as expected.

The backs  ..... it was a blur of action and pressure Rock Adro and Muscles Oliver spring to mind.  Man on man action - pushing,  shoving,  giving their opposition forwards no space to run.

All in all a good hard game to watch at the goal

A good game - good pressure.  Left space for  Lochie to run into - a couple of times the CHF run into the space - maybe better to leave it open and run towards the flank

Forwards worked well together - crumbed well.  used their bodies and supported each other well.

Backs held up well - the other side attacked hard in Q3 - we gave a goal away when Cal attempted a poor kick in- into man on mark  - rushed it after running into one of our players - we must clear the goals on a kick out like that, or maybe give away a point?

A good hard hot win.  They will be a much better side next time - we must work on our fitness and start to work on plays.  Lots more voice.

Enjoy the break.

Thanks to Simon for the inspiring end of 3rd quarter speech,  and to the coaching team for maintaining a coherent coaching strategy over 4 quarters.  The lads really lifted in the last quarter.

Would recommend a view from a goal to all parents !
