Game 5 Ballajura Black vs. Mount Hawthorn

The Cardies came into the game feeling very confident, which we needed to be to defeat the unbeaten team of Ballajura Black. Cardies were looking forward to this challenge and to prove how we can play under some pressure.

We were switched on in the first quarter, winning it and smashing it forward but usually went to a Ballajura player. We repeated this a lot throughout the quarter. The ball was at Ballajura’s goal for most of the quarter, but still we managed to kick a goal in the final minutes from Tom.

The second quarter wasn’t much of a change, with them dominating us on the wing where they used it a lot better than us and kick lots of goals. We didn’t kick any points that quarter and it was very disappointing.

The Cardies were not going to give up after the break and came out with terrific momentum but lost it very fast. Ballajura took the opportunity to put goals on the board. As much as we tried we could not keep up with the pace and the intensity of Ballajura. They were shepherding and tackling which enabled them to run and causing us to make mistakes. Their forward line was switched on, and our back weren’t. We didn’t score a point in that quarter.

The last quarter was a goal slog fest for the Ballajura kicking a lot of goals while leaving us with only one goal for the quarter. Everybody was trying their best to run with the very fast opponents and trying to man up. We will play next week against Mount Lawley and will make up for this loss.
